Base phase:
With cold winter mornings setting in, and the shortest day of the year come and gone, I got through June pretty smoothly really. Despite a head cold for a week or so, I managed to avoid any swine flu scares and had a 100% attendance rate at training.
With a new coach and training squad this year, I am really enjoying training. This is the first time I have ever had a periodised program and June has been all about building a base.
This base phase has seen me do more volume then I have ever attempted before, averaging well over 20 hours a week. No easy feat when your still working full time. With a focus on building a big aerobic engine, my training was not so intense making the volume seem not so scary.
With my base period down, I now move into a Strength Endurance phase and will attend my first ever training camp. No races to report on this month. Not even a fun run. Making my highlight of the month some good quality fun in training. An impromptu MJ memorial ride had a group of us singing and attempting MJ dance moves on our bikes for hours.

This is me wearing some of my linebreak gear. The centre picture was taken at the presentation of the NSW Aquathon championships, where I finished as the first Pro Female and only 5 seconds behind the 3rd placed male. I purchased this long sleeve T at the Port Macquarie Iron man expo in 08, and I credit this garments compression qualities with the accelerating my recovery from my Acromioplasty in July 08. I was back swimming in 4 weeks, 2 weeks ahead of schedule.
