CatchIts
No More Spilled Ball
Poor catching technique is the number one cause of dropped ball. Coaching theory for all large ball sports promote the practice of using fingertips rather than palms to secure control of the ball. This is because balls bounce off the hard part of your hand but fingers allow you to feel the ball and to exert the appropriate pressure required to catch.
Worn at training, CatchIts promote fingertip ball control by preventing palm contact from occurring. Wearing CatchIts during warm up drills such as catching and marking will cause mishandling if fingertip contact is not maintained. These minor fumbles focus the mind on better technique until fingertip control becomes second nature. Once removed, the neurological pathways established by wearing CatchIts will transfer to game situations.
CatchIts are both educational for junior players wanting to learn correct catching technique and remedial for senior players wanting to eradicate bad habits.
The product has been designed following many hours spent with players and coaches talking about how different skills can be improved upon. Right now, CatchIts are being regarded as one of the most innovative core skill coaching tools available for large ball sports. The CA Brumbies and Sydney Swans have been very generous with their input into the development of the product with other teams using CatchIts including Richmond Football club, Parramatta Eels and Newcastle Knights Rugby League clubs and the Sydney Swifts and Queensland Firebirds National Netball teams.
