Tell us about yourself
My name is Ben Lynch, I am currently 18 years old and I come from Whyalla in country South Australia. I have moved to Adelaide to pursue not only my studies, but the sporting opportunities on offer. I am currently studying full time as a second year podiatry student, whilst also training for hockey as part of the South Australian Institute of Sport (SASI) squad. I have played hockey since I was eight years old and on five separate occasions since then I have represented my state at national and invitational championships. The most memorable and proud moment of those years was in July 2009 when I was offered a full scholarship, on a one year contract with the South Australian Sports Institute elite hockey squad. This opportunity is one I hope to seize and build for bigger and better things. What are you hoping to achieve
The most important thing for me is to be the best I can as often as I can. From this I hope that national opportunities will present themselves in the near and distant future. I am aiming to be selected and a consistent contributor in the South Australian men’s under 21 team which plays in Melbourne during July 2010. Ultimately representing Australia at any level is my goal, though I would hope to play in the Olympics or at a world cup. I am focusing at the moment at reaching a level which will allow me to be considered over the next year or so as a potential under age national representative. How does LineBreak help
LineBreak has provided me with a solid foundation for my training schedule, allowing me to extend myself without overstressing my body. Since first contact, the LineBreak team has matched my enthusiasm for sporting success and using their performance wear I have been able to recover and manage my physical condition during and after trainings and games. I am fortunate enough to use a range of the LineBreak apparel and performance wear which I am very grateful for and highly recommend. My Blog

So I have trained with the SASI (south Australian Sports institute) hockey squad for 6 months now and it has been a very busy period. It was a huge adjustment, none bigger than adapting to the physical demand of the frequent and high intensity trainings as an elite athlete. The early morning sessions were also a big shock to the system and I appreciate the commitment of the many athletes who have trained like this and often harder than this for many years. At the moment my passion for hockey is at a high and the group of guys (including the coaches) I train with make it even easier to get up for those early starts. The training track is competitive and everyone is pushing each other. I am now starting to specifically work towards the under 21 tournament in six months, but even closer is a trip to play against some of the athletes at the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) as a trial for later on this year. I am excited for the next period of six months and will keep you posted on my developments.
