Lubricants! Not the most glamorous subject - but then again neither are blisters, chafing or rubbing from things like backpack straps.
If you move, if you sweat, if you rub, slide or grind (I don’t know what you’re thinking but I’m talking about running, exercise induced sweating, rubbing on paddle craft seats or grinding big gears on your bike) then Gurney Goo has definitely got a place in your kit bag. Our customers come from a massively broad range of sports and none of them want to be crippled by the effects of friction. If you’ve ever prayed for a solution to rubbing – here’s the answer to your prayers. Hallelujah!!
Developed by accomplished adventure racer Steve Gurney, the anti-friction, anti-blister, anti-chafing, anti-septic, lubricating goop otherwise known as Gurney Goo comes in 100ml and 300ml tubs plus handy 5g sachets.
Grandma Gurney’s secret formula has kept young Stephen on the run for over 20 years. After your noggin, the single most important body bit to look after in adventure racing is your feet. Keeping them dry and free of those prune wrinkles is important, and this Goo is not only helpful in this but it reduces friction too. Goo is great on hands, armpits, crotches, butt cheeks and nipples! It is fantastic for kayaking in preventing blisters on hands. It’s even been useful in remedying nappy rash!
While Grandma Gurney’s good ol’ Goo formula has been upgraded to the latest silicon technology, we’ve retained her tried and true Tea-Tree antiseptic additive which is great for preventing infections. A triple-whammy product. Water proofing – Friction reducing – Infection protection!

Gurney GooThe 5g sachet is a handy pocket size for a single hit-out. The 100ml size is best for individual users during races – one per person in a team. This also acts as an insurance policy – if one person on a team looses their tub everyone can share, unlike the horrible consequences of the team’s only 300 ml tub being lost which results in injuries such as the one on the right! |
